I have returned! My family and I got back into town on Tuesday evening. We had so much fun, and we actually relaxed a little :-) We played mini-golf, and I didn't come in last. We drove go-karts, and we went into the Ozark Caverns. Mason was very impressed with the caves, and he wanted to keep riding the go-karts. Avery was scared that she would see bats in the cave, or more like the bats would fly out at us like in the movies. She was very relieved that that did not happen. We took a boat trip around the lakes, and Mason had fun walking from one end of the boat to the other. Both kiddos were impressed with the big paddle wheel that moved the boat on the lake. They also got to feed the biggest carps that I have ever seen! The carps would actually jump on top of each other trying to get the food that was thrown down. I felt bad for the geese that were trying to get the food so I threw my food out to them :-) We rented a condo and it had a beautiful view of the lake. Avery and Mason fished for the first time, and Mason even caught a little one. Avery didn't catch anything, but she was very excited for her brother.
It was great to see my parents and spend some time with them. My mom and I talked a lot and went shopping! It had been a long time since we had had a chance to just sit down, the two of us, and talk. My dad kept trying to tease the kids, and let me tell you, that hasn't changed since I was little. He helped figure out a computer problem, and found some places with good food to eat.
We didn't get a lot of sleep, but it sure was a fun weekend. It was sad to say good-bye to my parents, as I am not sure right now when I will see them again. I am hoping that it will be around Christmas time! Avery even had tears in her eyes when we drove away.
Thank you, Kiki, for the wonderful class that you have put together. I have learned so much, and am looking forward to integrating this information into my classroom.
I will do my best to enjoy the next week and a half before I have to report back to school. I hope you all do the same :-)
